Fern first saw Cross-Country skiing on TV, and, coming from a competitive open water swimming and downhill skiing background, when the commentators described it as the "most physically enduring sport", this was what really inspired her to take up the sport!

Since then her parents have helped her follow her dream as much as possible through Rollerski training and events in the UK, to camps on snow with the British Nordic Development Squad. When Fern finished school at 18, she left her home in England and moved to Sweden where she is now studying and training full time in Falun.

Fern's greatest achievement to date is qualifying and being selected for the British Senior Team and therefore training alongside teammates that she first saw on TV at 15.

Fern wants to send a big thank you to all her sponsors and the supportive and positive people around her: Family, friends and her coaches - Roger Homyer, Anne Ford.
