Tyler is a dual citizen, who was born in King City, Ontario, Canada, a small town located just north of the City of Toronto. A two sport athlete, Tyler currently attends Killington Mountain School (KMS), located in Killington Vermont, USA, and is a member of both their competitive alpine and cycling programs. An accomplished alpine racer, Tyler is also the 2016 U17 Canadian National Mountain Bike Champion, and the 2016 U19 Canadian National Cyclocross Bronze Metalist.

Tyler, who was introduced to skiing by his grandfather, began skiing when he was 3 years old. At 6 years old Tyler began spending his winters attending school and racing at Big White Mountain Resort, British Columbia, as a member of the Big White Racers. Later, Tyler would spend his formative years living in Wakefield, Quebec and racing at Mont Ste. Marie. In 2015, Tyler and his family moved back to King City, Ontario and he spent his final two years of children's racing, skiing for the Toronto Ski Club, in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada.

Tyler twice attended the U16 British Children's Championship, in Tignes, France, winning three metals and finishing second overall for the Championship in his final year (2016).

Currently Tyler is racing FIS, predominately in the US north east, as a member of Killington Mountain School. Although Tyler races for Canada in Cycling, in honour of his mother and grandparents, Tyler proudly represents Britain in alpine skiing.
