Mike began skiing on holidays with his family in Les Deux Alpes.  He began freestyle skiing after his ski instructor took him through the park at the end of his lessons and, on realising he had a natural talent for it, encouraged him to continue.

In 2011, Mike won medals in two events at the British Freeski Championships, with three in 2012 and four in 2013.  Mike was invited to the inaugural Asian Open Slopestyle event in Japan in 2013, where he came 4th overall.

Mike went on to compete on the SFR tour where he notched up some respectable results against seasoned athletes almost twice his age. In 2014 Mike represented GB for the first time in the Junior Worlds and came a respectable 30th.  In 2015 he improved on this result with a 19th place.

An injury saw Mike out of action and unable to compete for most of the 2015/2016 season but he returned to the competition scene with a 7th place followed by a podium 3rd place in his first two Europa Cup events of 2017.  He then finished the season with a solid 23rd position in his first senior World Cup event.
