Delancey Ones to Watch: Kirsty Muir talks sport, Scottish comps and Ski Sunday

We catch up with Delancey Ones to Watch freestyle skier, 12-year-old Kirsty Muir, to find out what she’s been up to as part of the GB Park & Pipe National Academy with her third blog.

My week’s are pretty busy with school, training and hitting the dry slope at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre. I love trampolining (helps with ariel awareness), running, athletics and dancing. At school I’m getting the chance to try lots of different sports. It doesn’t really matter which sports you try, they all help with balance and fitness. I play netball and have joined the school team.

I was over in Laax at the end of January, training with GB Park & Pipe National Academy coaches Ben Kinnear and Joe Tyler (JT Freeski Academy). They are awesome coaches. I was pretty lucky with the snow and the weather. I just love Laax. Can’t wait to head back for The Brits at the beginning of April. Looking forward to skiing in Scotland too, with a few comps coming up, the Lecht’s Rail Jam, Lecht Air & Style, and Snowsports Scotland’s Triple Crown concludes in March.

Here is a link to a few clips from Laax. So happy to land my first backflip.

Filming: thanks to Joe Tyler, Keely MacKinnon, Jimmy Muir and Ben Kinnear.

Kirsty visiting Freeze Pro Shop in Edinburgh: her helmet broke just before Laax, so they sorted her out with a shiny new one and some new goggle lenses. Check them out at

Watching Ski Sunday is a bit of a tradition in our house. What a surprise Championship Ski & Snowboard was mentioned in 2017’s first episode and then to see my switch 540 on the TV. I just couldn’t believe it.

Then, last weekend, I was so stoked my interview from The Brits last year was aired on Ski Sunday (5th February). It was amazing to meet Jenny Jones and to be interviewed by her. It was so exciting just to be in Laax, meeting many of my idols on the slopes, let alone be interviewed. My 7 onto the airbag at the Freestyle Academy Laax was shown too. Huge thanks #SkiSunday.
