BSS confirm selection criteria for British Ski and Snowboard Cross Squad

British Ski and Snowboard have confirmed the selection criteria for the British Snowboard Cross Squad and also for major events. The new selection criteria follows the appointment of Ski and Snowboard Cross Head Coach, Guillaume Nantermod, and looks at both supporting our Cross athletes who are heading towards PyeongChang 2018 and building a strong team for the future. The final British Ski and Snowboard Cross Squad will be selected and announced ahead of the start of the winter season.

Over the summer, BSS offered a number of camps to Ski and Snowboard Cross athletes with a range of abilities. Summer camps in Les Deux Alpes involved skiers and snowboarders training together, which have been a great success. Following these camps, we are excited to offer a further four camps during October and November across Europe. This will be a fantastic opportunity for athletes to train with Guillaume and have the best possible start ahead of the Europa and World Cup season. Partaking in these camps does not qualify athletes for British Team status, and the selection criteria must be met, and selection confirmed by BSS.

Throughout the winter, Guillaume, along with an appointed Snowboard Cross coach will support our World Cup Squad athletes across the World Cups competitions. The Europa Cup Squad will be supported with training up to the Europa Cup season with Guillaume, alongside the World Cup Squad. Then into the season, Europa Cup athletes will be invited to train during the season wherever possible. As such, any Ski or Snowboard Cross athletes intending to compete at Europa Cup level are strongly advised to attend one of the upcoming camps and to discuss their competition plans with Guillaume.
